Cecilia - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 22, 2006, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cecilia for Samuel Gordon, 56, formerly of New Orleans, who died Monday, September 18, 2006 at his residence. Interment will be in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Cecilia. Samuel served in the U.S. Army from 1976 - 1978. He had a lot of pride in the way he looked and dressed; his car made a statement of who he was as a person. Samuel loved watching western movies. Survivors include his parents, James and Anna Celestine Gordon of Breaux Bridge; his son, Duane Clarke of San Antonio, TX, Duane's mother, Elaine Clarke; his daughter, Ebara Anderson, and her husband, Tawaskie of Houma, LA, Ebara's mother, Eleanora Gordon; his brothers, Jesse Gordon of Lafayette, Michael Gordon of New Orleans, Andrew Gordon of Breaux Bridge, and Mitch Gordon of Maryland; one grandchild, Ach Anderson; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lucilla and Aladin Celestine; and his paternal grandparents, Powerlita and George Gordon. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 2184 Bushville Hwy., Arnaudville, LA 70512 from 8:30 a.m. on Friday and continue until time of service . A rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. on Friday morning. Pallbearers will be his four brothers, Jesse, Michael, Andrew and Mitch Gordon, Tawaskie Anderson and Herman Lockhart. Honorary pallbearers will be Sammy and Teddy Gordon. Pellerin Funeral Home, 337-332-2111, is in charge of arrangements.
