BreauxBridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., on Saturday, September 22, 2012, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Savannah Mae 'Tut' Benoit Legrand, 77, who passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday; 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday; and continue on Saturday at 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m., at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. on Friday. Mrs. Legrand was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, the Flaming Kajun Kampers, and served on the resident council at Garden View Assisted Living, where she was a resident. She volunteered numerous hours at St. Agnes Healthcare Rehab in Breaux Bridge for many years. Prior to her residency at Garden View, she was a native and resident of Breaux Bridge (Nina area) and then Lafayette. 'Tut' loved her family, spending time with them, and cooking for them. She enjoyed playing Pokeno and little animals. Fr. Paul LaFleur will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Desire Bacala and Jo Bedel. Gift Bearers will be Dynell LaBiche and Janell Dronet. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth L. Guidry, and her husband, John, of Lafayette, and Wanda L. Bacala and her husband, Stephen, of Baton Rouge; seven grandchildren, Tiffiny Guidry, David J. Guidry, Desire Bacala, Stevie Bacala, Brandy Bacala, Michael Guidry, and Joseph Bacala; one great grandchild, Dylan VanEssen; and her sister, Raelynn Benoit Guarisco. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of almost 58 years, Joseph Homer Legrand; her parents, Eno Benoit and Euphemie Guidry; and her brother, Norris Benoit, Sr. Pallbearers will be David Guidry, Michael Guidry, Stephen Bacala II, Joey Bacala, Ronald Legrand, and C. J. Legrand, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Nolan 'Crip' Guidry, Jerry Guidry, and Dr. Hector Robles. Her family wishes to extend special thanks and gratitude to her 'extended family' - her caregivers, Lora Hernandez and Pat Charles, and Dr. Hector Robles, and her nurse, Mary Monroe.
