Scott J. Courville

St. Martinville - Scott J. Courville, 51, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at his residence. Per his wishes, a memorial service will be held at a later date. If you wish to honor his memory, his greatest wish was that donations be made in his name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Scott was a 10-year employee of C.H. Fenstermaker and Associates, where he worked as a construction inspector. His coworkers quickly became like family and supported him every step of the way. Scott honorably served in the United States Air Force and was active as the previous post commander of the American Legion post in Parks. He was also active in Boy's Scouts for many years with his sons.

The biggest hobby and joy of his life was the last 16 years spent in the S.C.A., where he participated in mid-evil reenacting. This was beyond just a "hobby" for him, it truly brought him happiness and he cherished the times spent with people that he often referred to as his "chosen family". Another passion of Scott's was motorcycles. He loved spending time customizing his bike that he named "Nite Fury". As a motorcycle rider, he was also a member of the Patriot Guard Riders, where he rode to honor his fellow veterans. Scott was dearly loved and will be missed by many.

He is survived by his wife, Joni Courville; sons, Nathan Courville, Jacob Tilmon and Aidan Tilmon; parents-in-law, Kelsie and Glenda Latiolais; siblings, Quinton Lavergne, Alicia Courville and Alethia Twedell (Doug); brother-in-law, Jamie Latiolais (Wendy); parents, Melvin Courville and Cathy Guidry; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his great-grandmother, who was so dear to him, Ezilda Calais Guidry.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to his oncologist, Victoria Panelli, who always told it to him straight; Ochsner Lafayette General for their amazing care; Heart of Hospice staff nurses; and last but not least, his amazing in-laws, Kelsie and Glenda Latiolais, who served as his caregivers to give him anything and everything he needed 24 hours a day.

Pellerin Funeral Home (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
