New Iberia - Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., on Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in New Iberia, for Segis Joseph Meyers, 83, who passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Regional Medical Center of Acadiana in Lafayette.
Interment follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery in Patoutville.
Rev. Edward Degeyter, will conduct the funeral services.
Segis served with the U.S. Marine Corps and retired from Wheelis Drilling. He loved his family very much and enjoyed welding and drinking Budweiser.
Survivors include his wife, Genevieve C. Meyers of Breaux Bridge; his sons, Bart J. Meyers (Tessie) of Houma and Edwin P. Meyers (Marcia) of Breaux Bridge; his daughters, Irma Dagie (Kenny) of Houma and Ruth Nabors (Jerome) of Breaux Bridge; his sister, Edith Latiolais of Cecilia; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Aymar and Eva Lancon Myers; one daughter, Patsy; five brothers, Vernice, Sylvester, Hilton, Lennis and Westley Meyers; two sisters, Ester Meyers and Jane Badeaux.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Monday, February 8, 2010 and continue at 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday.
A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
Pallbearers will be Bart Meyers, Ed Meyers, Jerome Nabors, Slim Robert, Dustin Rodriguez, Lawrence Boutte and Robert Boutte.
Pellerin Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
