St.Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, January 18, 2013, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in St. Martinville, for Serena Marie Batiste Joseph, 75, who passed away on Friday, January 11, 2013. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Thursday, and continue on Friday at 7 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville. Rev. Fulton Raymond of Mallalieu United Methodist Church will officiate at the funeral service. Scriptures will be read by Tonie Seahorn and Latoya Batiste. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville. Serena was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by four daughters, Tonie Seahorn of Houston, TX, Mary Elizabeth Belle of Rochester, NY, Debra Williams of St. Martinville, and Mary Christine Jackson of Houston, TX; five sons, Warren Michael Batiste of St. Martinville, Ronald Batiste of Lafayette, Lester Batiste of St. Martinville, Tommy Batiste of Avery Island, and Bobby Joseph of St. Martinville; three sisters, Norma Sue Linden, Hazel Flugence, and Grace Taylor; three brothers, Ernest Batiste, Alfred Batiste, and John Batiste, all of St. Martinville; and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Veronica Narcisse; her parents, Samuel and Lena Vallaire Batiste; her grandmother, Gussy Ester; two brothers, Allen and Camille Batiste; and two grandchildren, Treveya and Kevin Joseph. Pallbearers will be Trevor Joseph, Brian Fonette, Pernell Cormier, Larry Williams, Sr., Larry Williams, Jr., and Ernie Cole. Honorary pallbearers will be Regineld Flugence, McKerry Pierre, Phillip James, Jr., Pervis Cormier, and James Lee Simon. Pellerin Funeral Homeof St.Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
