Serina Ann Cormier Pickney

November 26, 1960 — January 10, 2017

St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Serina Ann Cormier Pickney, 56, who passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Lafayette General Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 7:00 am until 10:00 am on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at Notre Dame Catholic Church. A rosary will be prayed at 9 am. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville. She really enjoyed cooking, shopping, spending time with family, playing games on her iPad, playing video games especially Mario Bros. on Nintendo and she always had a heart of gold by opening-up her home to everyone regardless of their circumstances. She loved driving her school bus and her kids definitely knew she was a force to be reckoned with, in her words, Serina dont play. She was a true lover of animals from dogs, birds, rabbits, fish and whatever else she could bring into her home, but you couldn't put her within 10 feet of a snake. Shes truly loved and will be missed by family, friends, T-Boy (her dog), but most of all her children. She is survived by her husband, Harold Joseph Pickney, Sr.; daughters, Monika Dunnelle Porter and spouse, Darlene of St. Martinville, and Charlie Sharron Kately and spouse, Selby of St. Martinville; son, Dexter Keith Porter of St. Martinville; sisters, Patricia Cormier of Cade, Veronica Cormier of Pensacola, FL, Marjorie Cormier of Pensacola, FL, Katina C. Perkins of Pensacola, FL, Karen Broussard of St. Martinville, and Leslie Daniels of Baton Rouge; brothers, Chester Cormier of Cade and Danny Daniels of Gretna; grandchildren, Iannigel Lewis, De'Von Powell, I'Nyah Kately, Indea Kately, Irionne Kately, Imrie Kately, Selby Kately, Jr., and Isla Kately; great grandchild, I'Miyah Lewis; and her aunt, Geraldine Diggs and husband Gregory of St. Martinville. She was preceded her in death by her parents, Mr. Lionel Joseph Cormier, Jr. and Mrs. Dorothy Mitchell-Cormier; her grandparents, Mr. Lawrence Mitchell and Mrs. Marjorie Broussard-Mitchell, Mr. Lionel Joseph Cormier, Sr. and Mrs. Serena Jacquet-Cormier; one brother, Mr. Frank Broussard, Jr.; her uncles, Mr. Louis Mitchell, Sr, Mr. Lynel Mitchell, Sr., Mr. Joseph Mitchell, Sr., Mr. Edward Williams, Sr., Mr. Morris Charles, Sr., Mr. Elmo Cormier, Mr. Lenard Cormier, Mr. Harold Cormier, Mr. Wilton Cormier, Mr. Anthony Cormier, and Mr. Williams Cormier; her aunts, Mrs. Stella Mitchell-Charles, Mrs. Mildred Mitchell-Williams, Mrs. Mary Jones-Mitchell and Mrs. Melvola Jacquet-Mitchell. Pallbearers will be Iannigel Lewis, Selby Kately Sr., Willie Reese Jr., Kendrick Daniels, Harold Pickney Jr. and De'Von Powell. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Pickney Sr., Chester J. Cormier II, Russell Cormier Sr., Henry Pickney Sr., Russell Cormier Jr., James Broussard, Gregory Diggs Sr., Gerald Williams Sr., Danny Daniels, Jocoby Cormier, Jamal Cormier, Minus Cormier, Cliven Cormier Sr., Joseph Uvah and St. Martin Parish School Board Bus Drivers. Monika, Charlie and Dexter would like to give a very special Thank You to Harold Joseph Pickney Sr. for the love, care, comfort and support youve given our mother. The family would also like to give special thanks to Lafayette General Medical Center Doctors and staff, Dr. Molly Thomas, Dr. Brad Broussard, Nurse Practitioner Stella Prejean and the 7th floor Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurses; Taylor, Solange, Kelsey, Katyln, Morgan, Brittany and Janae' for all the love and care given to Serina and her family.
