New Iberia-A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Shannon Richard Facemire, 47, will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, July 26, 2010 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, with Rev. Charles Langlois as the Celebrant. ; Military graveside honors will follow in the Broussard Cemetery Annex in Bayou Petit Anse. ; A gathering of family and friends will be Monday, July 26, 2010, from 9:00 AM until 2:30 PM, at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 10:00 AM Monday. A native of New Iberia and resident of Spring, Texas, Mary Shannon Richard Facemire was born December 19, 1962, in New Iberia, Louisiana, to Gilman and Nancy D. Richard, and passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2010, at Northwest Houston Medical Center. Shannon was an Assistant Principal at Schindewolf Intermediate School in Spring, Texas. ; Previously, she was a history teacher for 15 years in Pensacola, Florida and Spring, Texas. ; She was Schindewolf's Teacher of the Year. ; She also served her country in the United States Army. Shannon supported her children and was very active in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, serving as Cookie Mom for her daughter's Girl Scout Troop and helping her son achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. She was also an active Phi Mu Alumni. Shannon coached the girl's cross country team at Schindewolf Intermediate School leading them to their first ever championship. ; She also actively coached her children in many sports. Shannon loved being "festive"; her two favorite sayings are "How we doin'" and "Good to go!" ; She is survived by her husband, Dwayne E. Facemire, of Spring, Texas; a son, Nickolas I. Facemire, and a daughter, Katie Facemire, both of Spring, Texas; her mother, Nancy Derise Richard, of New Iberia; her brothers, Gilman "Richie" Richard, Jr., and his wife, Lisa, of Houston, Texas; Dean Richard, of New Iberia; and Robert Richard, and his wife, Phyllis, of New Iberia; sisters, Kathy Richard Friend, and her husband, Brian, of New Iberia; and Holly Richard Grubb, and her husband, Chuck, of Lafayette. She is also survived by a niece, Kaylee Grubb, and nephews, Ben, Grant, Matthew and Marcus Richard, Casey and Taylor Friend, Avery Grubb and IV Roy; as well as a great-neice, Jordan Richard, and a great-nephew, Maddox Richard. Shannon was preceded in death by her father, Gilman C. Richard, Sr., her maternal grandparents, Robert and Irma Derise, and her paternal grandparents, Anatole and Aline Richard. Pallbearers will be Nickolas Facemire, Casey Friend, Gilman "Richie" Richard, Jr., Dean Richard, Robert Richard, Chuck Grubb and Brian Friend. Honorary pallbearers are Ben, Grant, Matthew and Marcus Richard, Taylor Friend, Avery Grubb and IV Roy.
