Butte LaRose A memorial service will be held at a later date for Shelby Joseph Guilbeau, 83, who passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2018.
Mr. Guilbeau honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1955 - 1958. He was a barber by trade for many years, starting back when haircuts were $1.75. Although Shelby wasnt a professionally trained chef, he was an excellent cook and prepared many delicious meals for restaurant owners, family, and friends they all loved his cooking. Besides his passion for cooking, Shelby loved telling jokes, being around people, both young and old, and taking an occasional trip to any one of the local casinos.
He is survived by his loving companion of 34 years, Faye Guidry Hebert of Butte LaRose; his son, Charles A. Guilbeau and wife Annette of Lafayette; daughters, Julie Duplantis and husband Ron of Scott, and Deanie Hargrave and husband David of Lafayette; 5 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julien Guilbeau, Sr. and Josephine Guidry Guilbeau; sister, Beatrice Camile Guilbeau; and brother, Julien Ramsey Guilbeau, Jr.
Shelbys family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to Concepts of Care, Hospice of Acadiana, and Betty Trahan, for the wonderful and compassionate care given to him during his time of need.
