Shirley Alexander

Parks- Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2011, at St. Louis Chapel in Parks, for Shirley Marie Ledet Alexander, 79, who passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge. Shirley was a lifelong parishioner of St. Louis Chapel in Parks and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and going dancing. A born leader, Shirley supported her family in everything, which she did till the very end. Shirley selflessly devoted her time and attention to care for her little Angel, Electa, who has needed special attention her entire life. She was known to be an Angel herself, because she was always there to help others in their time of need, no matter the cause. Shirley was a licensed beautician and owned a beauty salon in Parks, working until age 70. She also worked at Martin Mill's numerous years. Shirley had a wonderful sense of humor that enlightened the lives of everyone around her, which will forever be remembered by all those who loved her dearly. Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Walker and her husband, Jesse, of Baker, and Electa Alexander of Parks; two brothers, Cornel Ledet, of Parks, and Noah Ledet and his wife, Shirley, of Houston, TX; one sister, Myrtle Thibodeaux of Parks; one grandchild, Jessie Victoria Walker of Baker; a step grandchild, Vonetta Clark of Houston, TX; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Buchanan and Electa Thomas Ledet; her husband, John Alexander; and two brothers, Harris and Nolan Ledet.
