She supported Burt in his business and his career in public service and was active in her community of Breaux Bridge for many years to follow. Shirley loved cooking and entertaining for her family and friends. She embraced life to the fullest and thanked God daily for the many blessings he bestowed upon her. Her husband, children, and grandchildren were the joy in her life and she cherished the many times they could all be together, no matter the occasion. Family meant everything to Shirley, she would leap for joy when the Lord blessed her with the birth of another child or grandchild. As her family grew and the dining room table got crowded, she always made room for one more chair. She was the matriarch of her family and will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege and honor of knowing and loving her. Shirley was a devout Catholic and lifelong parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church where she served as a Lay Minister and was involved in many areas of religious education for numerous years. She was also an Adorer in the St. Bernard Chapel of Perpetual Adoration, since its inception, a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, the Rosary Group, and Cursillistas.
