Shirley David Dautreuil

New Iberia - Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Shirley David Dautreuil, 80, who passed away on Friday, June 22, 2018, in New Iberia. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Paul Neel will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home. A rosary, led by the Mens Rosary Group, will be prayed at 7:00 pm Monday. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Dautreuil was born on December 24, 1937 to the late Ellie and Agnes Touchet David. She was a devoted wife faithfully caring for her husband for 27 years after a boating accident, and also worked as a self-employed beautician for many years. She enjoyed raising homing pigeons with her husband and was secretary of the New Iberia Homing Pigeon Racing Club. Mrs. Dautreuil enjoyed gardening, cooking, and was the 2009 Queen Mother of the Mystic Krewe de Fou. All of her family and friends knew that pink was her favorite color. Mrs. Dautreuil was an active member of Assembly Christian Center in New Iberia. She served in the nursing home ministry, the hospitality ministry, and in many other areas of the church. Mrs. Dautreuil loved singing hymns. Survivors include her daughters, Paula Arceneaux and husband J.C. of New Iberia, Melanie Romero and husband Larry of Coteau, Eva Raye Sonnier and husband Phillip of Erath; son, Kenneth Ray Dautreuil, Jr. and wife Patricia of Dry Ridge, Kentucky; sister, Ada Bell Broussard of New Iberia; brother, Eddie David, Sr. of Coteau; grandchildren, Ellie Rouly and husband Karl, Zechariah "Zech" Arceneaux and fiance' Alison LeBouef, Lacey Romero Mestayer and husband Terry, Katie Romero, Leslie Romero and fiance' Mein, Bonnie Hippler, Ben Hippler and companion Danielle Wagner, Kevin Hippler, Rebecca Dautreuil Whatley, Kenneth Dautreuil, III and wife Heather, Christopher Dautreuil, Paul Dautreuil; step grandchildren, Donald Lovell, Brandon Lovell, Derrick Sonnier and wife Lacey; great grandchildren, Karrigan, Kaleb, Brady, Andrea, Clay, Sal, Isabella, Audrey, Bishop, Maddox, Mason, Abigail, and Paul. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy Dautreuil; husband, Kenneth "Dauch" Ray Dautreuil, Sr.; and a brother, Purvis David. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Ray Dautreuil, Jr., J.C. Arceneaux, Larry Romero, Phillip Sonnier, Ben Hippler, Zech Arceneaux, Karl Rouly. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters.
