Shirley Flegeance

St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a .m., on Monday, November 15, 2010, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Shirley Ann Savoy Flegeance, 70, who passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville. Father Augustinus Seran, SVD will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by her granddaughters, Natalie and Adairre. Shirley was a wonderful seamstress who took great pride in her work and she also found it to be very relaxing working word-find puzzles, but her greatest enjoyment and pleasure in life was spending time with her grandchildren and family. A wonderful cook as well, Shirley was known to have made 'The best fried chicken and potato salad in the world.' She will long be remembered for the genuine love, care and compassion she gave freely to everyone she ever met in her life; those gifts she shared will never be forgotten by the many lives that she has touched. Survivors include her husband, Aaron Flegeance of St. Martinville; one son, Vincent Flegeance and his wife, Aline of Fort Lauderdale, FL; two daughters, Christine Castille and her husband, Dr. Wartelle Castille, of Lafayette, and Dr. Tanya Kirby and her husband, Rashad, of Dowington, PA; three brothers, Alfred Savoy and Henry Savoy, Sr., of St. Martinville, and Lester Savoy and his wife, Vanessa, of St. Louis, MO; one sister, Dorothy Potier of Houston, TX; and six grandchildren, Natalie, Chelsae, Adairre, Blythe, Vincent, II, and Layla. She was preceded in death by her parents, Halphen and Lillian Simmons Savoy; and her sister, Sylvia Savoy. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until time 10 p.m. on Sunday and continue at 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Monday. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening. Pallbearers will be Vincent Flegeance, Rashad Kirby, Dr. Wartelle Castille, Herbert Druilhet, Henry Savoy, Jr., and Lawrence Potier.
