New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, September 7, 2018, at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church in New Iberia for Shirley Dooley Landry, 80, who passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, in Lafayette.
Entombment will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery.
Rev. Mario Romero will be the Celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm Thursday. Visitation will continue on Friday from 8:00 am until 9:15 am.
Ms. Landry was born on March 6, 1938 in Jeanerette to the late Dewey and Elvonia Lancon Dooley. She was a longtime resident of New Iberia and was a member of Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church Choir. Ms. Landry enjoyed listening to her chimes, reading, playing bingo, dancing, gardening, and spending time with her children whom she dearly loved.
Survivors include her daughters, Kathleen May and husband Ronald of New Iberia, Elaine Hebert of New Iberia, Karen Romero, Janet Hebert and husband Drew of St. Martinville, Wendy Lopez and husband David of Jeanerette, Jenny Menard and husband Chad of Broussard; sons, Dale Landry and wife Pansy of New Iberia, Chad Landry and wife Rachel of New Iberia, Jason Landry and wife Kim of New Iberia, Todd Landry and wife MacKenzie of Youngsville; sisters, Judy Dooley of New Iberia, Ethel Fults of Bridge City, Texas; 31 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, David Wayne Landry, Sr., Kevin Landry and Raymond Landry, Jr.; daughter, Melissa Armand; grandchildren, Shane Hebert and Jamie Hebert; brother, Stanley Dooley; and sister, Rita Lafont.
