Sidney "Buddy" Lassalle, Jr.

Sidney Paul Lassalle, Jr. (Buddy) died November 28, 2024, peacefully in his sleep at the age of 92. He was born at his maternal grandparents’ home in Loreauville on November 26, 1932, to Sidney P. Lassalle, Sr., and Mae Marie Provost Lassalle. Sadly, Mae Marie died 8 days after his birth. He was predeceased by his father and stepmother, Mabel Billeaud.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am, on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Pellerin Funeral Home, with Rev. Ed Degeyter officiating. Entombment will be at a later date.

Visitation will be Friday, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am, at Pellerin Funeral Home. A rosary, led by the Men's Rosary Group, will be prayed at 10:00 am on Friday.

Buddy graduated from St. Peter’s College, now Catholic High, as did his father. He worked at the Clerk of Court’s Office after graduation and joined the Navy during the Korean War. During his Navy years he married Cecile Hebert and had a daughter in Patuxent River, Maryland.

After his naval service he came back to New Iberia and could have gone to college on the GI bill. That was a dream of his. Instead, he chose to go to work and take care of his family. His wife and family were always the focus of his life. 

He was a hard worker and did title research and oilfield abstracter working in 40 parish courthouses. He worked for and with other well-known experts in the field. He was a humble man and would never consider himself an expert. He was celebrated at a retirement dinner at the age of 78.

 At the time of his death, he was married to Cecile Hebert Lassalle for 72 years.

He is survived ty four children: Cindy Lassalle, Jane Dugas (Randy), Mae Dooley (Danny), and Mike Lassalle (Stephanie). Also, grandchildren: Aaron David, Luke David, Christine Bayard (Brandon), Jason Dugas (Ashley), Jeremy Bourque (McKenzie), Aubrey Bourque (Jeramy Bergeaux), Gabrielle Lassalle, Lauren Dooley (Matt Nguyen), and Lacy Dooley. He also had several great-grandchildren: Isaac David, Daniel David, Sophia David, Adam Bayard, Liam Bayard, Gwen Dugas, Greg Dugas, Maddox Collette, and Skyla Bergeaux.
