New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 15, 2018, at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church in New Iberia for Sidney Joseph Guilbeau, 83, who passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018, in New Iberia.
Interment will follow in Beau Pre Cemetery.
Rev. Mario Romero will be the Celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 pm Wednesday. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 8:00 am until 10:15 am.
A resident of New Iberia, Mr. Guilbeau was born on October 23, 1934 in Broussard to the late Fils and Lillia Bourque Guilbeau, and he proudly served our country in the U.S. Marines during the Korea War. He worked as a wireline operator for Cajun Wireline, and later as a security guard for the Iberia Sugar Co-Op. Mr. Guilbeau enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends,
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Segura Guilbeau; son, Kevin Guilbeau of New Iberia; daughter, Cheryl Ann Guilbeau Reaux of New Iberia; brother, Paul Guilbeau and wife Betty of New Iberia; grandchildren, Daniel Reaux, Jude Reaux, Josh Guilbeau, Nathan Guilbeau, Seth Guilbeau, Melia Guilbeau; great grandchildren, Daniel Reaux, Jr., Gavin Reaux, Gage Reaux, Ava Guilbeau, Colton Guilbeau, Emmie Guilbeau, and one due to arrive in August.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kim Guilbeau, father, Fils Guilbeau, mother, Lillia Bourque Guilbeau Landry, brothers, Travis Guilbeau, Henry Guilbeau, Emile Guilbeau, Fils Guilbeau; sister, Electa Guilbeau, Lillian Dugas, and Mary Landry.
