A resident of Lydia, Stanley Anthony Boudreaux was born in Jeanerette, Louisiana on July 5, 1939, to the late Oleus and Alita Legnon Boudreaux. He leaves behind a legacy rich in hard work, passion, and kindness. Stanley lived his life with a hands-on approach, dedicating decades of labor as a heavy equipment operator within the farming and construction industries. He honed his skills working for Mike Foster, Sterling Sugar, and ultimately retired from M.A. Patout Sugar Mill. Work was not merely a means to an end for Stanley; it was his passion. It is said that he never missed a day of work for a holiday, a testament to his dedication and unwavering commitment.
Stanley's vibrant spirit shone brightest when he was surrounded by his family, who would bring him holiday meals at the Sugar Mill, ensuring that even in the busyness of industry, the love of family was never absent. His life's passions extended beyond the mill. Stanley found joy in the simple pleasures of life—metal detecting, hunting, and fishing were cherished activities that he enjoyed thoroughly. In his younger days, he loved riding his motorcycle, a symbol of his adventurous spirit.
Known for his mechanical aptitude, Stanley had a knack for fixing things, which endeared him to many. He delighted in the flavors of his beloved wife, Emma's Cajun cooking, an exquisite testament to their shared life, filled with warmth and love. The thrill of visiting the casino brought Stanley joy—a chance to test his luck, but more importantly, the opportunity to create memories. Music also played a significant role in Stanley's life; he once played in a band and showcased his skill on the accordion, bringing smiles to those who listened.
Stanley was the proud owner of a shrimp boat at one point, indulging in the thrilling experience of trolling the waters. Yet, it was perhaps his gentle heart that stood out the most. He never met a stranger and was always ready to lend a helping hand to others. His kindness shaped the memory of him that will linger on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Mr. Boudreaux is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Emma Scadlock Boudreaux; daughters, Brenda Robinson (John), Mary Malhiet (Robert), Jeannie Landry (Craig), and Tina Boudreaux; a sister, Rita Judice (Danny); nine grandchildren, Marion Broussard Jr., Brendon Broussard (Brittney), Jessica Broussard-Navarro (Jesus), Blake Robinson, Nicholas Lebert, Emily Lebert (Beau Sonnier), Cole Malhiet, Stephen Bourque (Nicole McGlue), and Megan Bourque; great-grandchildren, Thelma Broussard, Gerald Broussard, Ben Navarro, and Leo Stanley Bourque; two best buddies, Brian Trahan, and James Mitchell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Mable Dubois, Larry Boudreaux, Davis “Pete” Boudreaux, Raymond Boudreaux, Johnny Boudreaux, Andrew “Do” Vaughn, Anna Mae Gachassin, and Mary Ann Boudreaux.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Marion Broussard Jr., Brendon Broussard, Blake Robinson, Nicholas Lebert, Cole Malhiet, and Stephen Bourque.
Honorary pallbearers are John Boudreaux, Brian Trahan and James Mitchell.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Hospice of Acadiana, and to Dr. Mhadgut and his staff for extraordinary care and compassion; to the Lydia Cancer Assn.; and to Stanley’s nephew John Boudreaux and Temple Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to help offset expenses.
As we remember Stanley, we honor a man whose life was a blend of labor and love, where every day was devoted to making the most of his time on this earth. His legacy lives on in the lessons he imparted and the warmth he spread to others. May he rest in peace.
