Stanley Guidry

Cecilia - Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, on Friday, May 18, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Stanley Guidry, 87, who passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at St. Landry Extended Care Hospital in Opelousas. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 8:00 am until 1:45 pm on Friday. Rev. Michael Delcambre will officiate at the funeral service. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia. Mr. Guidry was retired from Lake Charles Dredging & Towing, where he worked as a welder and leverman for over 50 years, and was a member of Seafarers Union for 45 years. He was a faithful parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a devoted Christian who had a kind and compassionate heart and took care of everyone - putting their needs before his own. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved deer and squirrel hunting. Stanley was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Marie Guidry and husband, Michael James Melancon of Cecilia; 7 grandchildren, Hunter Michael Guidry, Laia Renee Robin, Michael Alton Melancon, Joanna Michelle Wiltz, Jeremy Spradlin, Kristy Pearson, and Kristina Garcia; 1 great grandchild, Cameron Arceneaux; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Amite Hebert Guidry; his devoted wife of 52 years, Betty Lou Guidry; a son, Jessie Joseph Wiltz; a granddaughter, Brandi Spradlin; five sisters, Mrs. Davis (Edith) Hebert, Mrs. William (Louise) Angelle, Mrs. Antoine (Lydia) LeBlanc, Mrs. Hanley (Lelia) Champagne, and Mrs. Fergust (Marie) Berard; and one brother, Neurille Guidry. Pallbearers will be Hunter Michael Guidry, Michael James Melancon, Jessie Joseph Melancon, Donnie Giarratano, D.J. Hebert, and Brian Keith Champagne Honorary pallbearers will be Kerrie Frederick, Kalor Frederick, and Brian Louvierre. Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia is in charge of arrangements.
