Stella Jean Sassau

Cecilia - A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm, on Saturday, August 3, 2013, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Stella Jean Roy Sassau, 73, who passed away on Monday, July 29, 2013. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in Cecilia from 8:00 am until 12:30 pm on Saturday. A rosary will be recited at 9:00 am on Saturday. Rev. Michael Delcambre will officiate at the Funeral Service. Scriptures will be read by Tyler Sassau and Mary Semere. Gift Bearers will be Bryson Sassau, Krailon Woods, and Kaitlyn Kinnerson. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Cecilia. Stella was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking, babysitting her grandchildren, and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Arthur Sassau Sr. of Lafayette; her sons, Mike Sassau and Arthur Sassau, Jr., both of Lafayette; her daughter, Elizabeth S. Gaines of Lafayette; her brother, Audrey Frederick, Sr. of Cecilia; her sisters, Tammy Mires, Jackie Roy, Nola Broussard, and Theresa Preston, all of Houston, TX, and Catherine Harris of Breaux Bridge; 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents, McKinley and Mary Williams Roy; her brothers, Elton Roy, Albert Dewey Roy, and Donald Roy; and her sisters, Ezola Roy, Renella Roy, and Lucile Pittman. Pallbearers will be Harold Calais, Ricky Sassau, Elton Roy, Louis Daigle, Hartselle Johnson, and Lawrence 'Teddy' Sassau, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Claude Watson, III, Michael Sassau, Arthur Sassau, Jr., Audrey Frederick, Sr., Louis Sassau, and Kevin Bonton.
