Stoney Meche

Arnaudville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 pm on Friday, May 18, 2012, at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church, in Arnaudville, for Stoney John Meche, 72, who passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at Lafayette General Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 2:30 pm until 9 pm on Thursday, and continue on Friday at 8 am until 1:30 pm. A rosary will be recited at 7 pm on Thursday by his sister-in-law, Beatrice Zeringue. Fr. Keenan Brown will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. John Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville. Mr. Meche, a native and lifelong resident of Arnaudville, honorably served his country in the United States Air Force from October 8, 1958 until his discharge on October 5, 1962. He was an avid outdoorsman, who in his free time enjoyed hunting and gardening. Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Leatrice Babineaux Meche of Arnaudville; five sons, Shane Meche of Houston, TX, Todd Meche and wife, Kelly, Errol Meche and wife, Tammy, Alan Meche and wife, Virginia, and Ross Meche and wife, Molly, all of Arnaudville; three daughters, Melissa Ledet and husband, Dennis, of Breaux Bridge, Lea Duvall and husband, Channing, of Lottie, and Cheryl Patin and husband, David, of Breaux Bridge; one brother, Michael Meche and wife, Jane, of Lafayette; one sister, Priscilla Lastrapes and husband, Joe, of Arnaudville; and 24 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Elvina Latiolais Meche. Pallbearers will be Shane, Todd, Errol, Alan, and Ross Meche, and Dennis Ledet.
