Suli Dela Cruz

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 13, 2006, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in Cecilia for Suli ""John"" Dela Cruz, 45, who died Monday, September 4, 2006 at St. Martin Hospital in Breaux Bridge. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia. Suli was a native of Honolulu, Hawaii. ?He was an avid surfer and loved the Pacific Ocean, where he enjoyed fishing, all water sports, the outdoors and he also loved working with heavy equipment. ?He was a Harley Rider, and he started the Toys for Tots Ride in 1977 in Honolulu, Hawaii. ? Survivors include his wife, Diana Roberts Dela Cruz, the daughter of Paul F. and Eloise S. Roberts, of Cecilia, LA; his mother, Huni Fakalata Dela Cruz of Honolulu, HI; his daughter, Lacy Ra? Bayham of Cecilia, LA; three half-brothers, Haloti Taasi Pakileata of Honolulu, HI, Jefferson Alfred and Vincent Alfred, both of Los Angeles, CA; three half-sisters, Emmly Alfred Eguires, Christina Alfred, both of Honolulu, HI and Theresa Alfred Williams of Los Angeles, CA; one step-sister, Ana Dela Cruz Kishimoto of Honolulu, HI; his aunt, Moala Fakalata Alfred; his uncle, Thomas Jefferson Alfred;his sister-in-law, Paula Louise Roberts of Cecilia; and a special loved one, Alani Fieanganofo. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Meleane Fakalata and Muo Mua Fakalata; and his father, Jacinto Dela Cruz. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 10, 2006 and continue until time of service on Wednesday. Pallbearers will be his three brothers-in-law, Clifford, Bryan, and Kyle Roberts, Mark Hatfield, Haloti Taasi Pakileata and George Krueger. Honorary pallbearers will be Eugene ""Black"" Revere and Mike MaClarion. Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia is in charge of arrangements.
