Susan Marie Melancon

Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Susan Marie Melancon, 90, who passed away on Friday, March 24, 2017. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 12:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Tuesday and continue on Wednesday at 7:00 am until 10:30 am. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Tuesday. Rev. Garrett McIntyre will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial. Readers will be Sister Laura Melancon and Kathy Farrelly. Gift bearers will be Elaine Melancon and Howard Melancon. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. Mrs. Melancon was a member of the Breaux Bridge Garden Club, Rosary Group, and Homemaker's Group. She will be loved and missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her son, Blaine "Bruno" Melancon of Parks; daughter, Cindy Melancon and spouse Pamela Warren of New Orleans; brothers, Howard Melancon and wife Joyce of Lafayette and Lester Melancon and wife Priscilla of Breaux Bridge; sister, Elaine Melancon of Breaux Bridge; grandchildren, Jaimie Seawell and spouse Kyle of Spartanburg, SC and Renen Barrett and spouse Brooklyn of Eureka, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband. Herman Roy Melancon; father, Henry Melancon, Sr.; mother, Elione Melancon; brothers, Henry Melancon, Jr., Antoine "Tony" Melancon and wife Luna, Henry Melancon and wife Margie, and Simon Melancon; sister, Verna LeBlanc and husband Dorcineaux. Pallbearers will be David Melancon, Neil Melancon, Chad Melancon, Drake Mier, Jerry LeBlanc, and Jacob Melancon. Honorary pallbearers will be Tucker Melancon and Kenny Melancon. Our Mother's life was taken away by a horrible disease called "Alzheimer's Disease." Alzheimers is a progressive degenerative disorder that attacks the brain resulting in loss of memory, thinking, language, and ultimately life itself.
