Tellamay Tom Etienne

St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, December 7, 2007, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Tellamay Tom Etienne, 87, who passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2007 at Iberia General Medical Center. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, in St. Martinville. Fr. Thomas Mullally, pastor of Notre Dame Catholic Church, will conduct the funeral service. Tellamay was a member of the Rosary Club and the Ladies Altar Society. She enjoyed cooking, caring for children and spending time outdoors fishing, hunting and gardening. She loved to travel, as one of her children said "cross country most of the time alone". Survivors include one son, David Etienne, of St. Martinville; three daughters, Verna M. Garrett and her husband, Joe Garrett of Maryland, Margaret E. Savoy and her husband, Willie A. Savoy, and Kathleen M. Guidry and her husband, William Guidry Sr., all of St. Martinville; one sister, Alice Tom, of St. Martinville; her sister in-laws, Mable Daggs of Marrero, Theresa Etienne of St. Martinville and Elmora Etienne of Houma; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Etienne, Sr.; her parents, Albert and Mary Turpeau Tom; her daughter, Jane Etienne; 2 sons, Louis Etienne Jr. and Billy J. Etienne; grandson, William Etienne and her brother, Albert Tom Jr. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2007 and continue at 7:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Friday. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
