St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 27, 2007, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Thaddeus Johnny Nelson, 47, who died Monday, April 23, 2007 at Iberia Medical Center in New Iberia.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Fr. Darrell Kelly, pastor of Notre Dame Catholic Church, will conduct the services.
Thaddeus enjoyed running on the track team for St. Martinville Sr. High, as well as playing the trombone in the band. Sports held a special interest in his life. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his parents, Louis "Thomas" Nelson, Sr. and Ursula St. Andr Nelson, of St. Martinville; his son, Terrance Nelson, of New Iberia; his daughters, Theleisha Nelson and Tina Nelson, both of New Iberia, and Kristina Olivier, of Houma; his sisters, Francisca Gobert, of Opelousas, Vonda LeBlanc, Lisa Nelson and Sherri Sigue, all of St. Martinville; his grandchildren, Tyrance Antoine and Tyran Gabriel; his former wife, Ella Nelson, of New Iberia; and a host of aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Johnny St. Andr and Mary LaRue Fontenot; his paternal grandparents, Louis Cyrus Nelson and Bertha Singleton Nelson; his step-grandfather, James Fontenot; his son, Jonathan Nelson; his brother, Louis Thomas Nelson, Jr.; and his uncles, Regis St. Andr, James Fontenot, Jr. Murlin Ray Fontenot, and Eddie Charles Fontenot.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 7:00 a.m. on Friday, April 27, 2007 until time of service.
A rosary will be recited at 9:00 a.m. on Friday.
Pallbearers will be Mose Gaddison, Jr., Hilton Mallery, Jarvis Francis, Albert Marshall, Mose Gaddison, Sr., Cleggs Charles, Paul Etienne and Tracy Knight.
Honorary pallbearers will be Terrance Nelson, Lurry "Jamie" Sigue, Jr., Darryl Fontenot, John Nelson, Paul Gobert, Gregory LeBlanc, Rod Wiltz, Richard Fontenot, Lloyd Nelson, McKinley Nelson, Mitchell Rochon, and Larry Jones.
