Thelma Melancon

Cecilia - Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 25, 2006, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia for Thelma Courville Melancon, 72, who died Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia. Mrs. Melancon enjoyed playing bingo and going to flea markets. Survivors include her husband, Gussie Melancon; her son, Gilbert Melancon; her daughter, Gail Melancon Lasseigne and her friend, Norris Roberts, Sr., all of Cecilia; four brothers, Joseph, Shelby and Ames Courville all of Cecilia and Norris Courville of Australia; one sister, Shirley Ryder of Cecilia; 5 grandchildren, Dawn Melancon Marks and her husband, Chris, Elizabeth Broussard, Tonya Broussard, Abigail Broussard and Krystal Melancon; and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clayus and Lydnee Thibodeaux Courville and one sister, Florence Giddings. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 am ~ 10:00 pm Friday, February 24, 2006 ? and continue at 7:00 am, Saturday until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Friday. Pallbearers will be Joseph and Shelby Courville, Gilbert and Willie Melancon and Mike Fitzgerald. Honorary pallbearer will be Ames Courville. Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia is in charge of arrangements.
