New Iberia – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon, on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, for Theresa “Tickie” LaBiche Collins, 93, who passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024.
Entombment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.
Msgr. Keith DeRouen will be the Celebrant. Con-Celebrants include Rev. Steve LeBlanc and Rev. Keith Landry.
Visitation will be Thursday, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at Pellerin Funeral Home. A rosary, led by the Men’s Rosary Group, with be prayed at 6:00 pm on Thursday. Visitation will continue at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church on Friday, from 10:00 am until 12 noon.
A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Collins was born on May 6, 1931, to the late Numa LaBiche, Sr., and Edmae Hebert LaBiche, and was a graduate of New Iberia High. She had been active member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, where she taught Catechism, and was very instrumental in the construction of the new church. Mrs. Collins was also a member of the Knights and Ladies of the Holy Sepulchre, the Garden Club, and was a past Cub Scouts Den Mother. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Karen Collins of Burnsville, Minnesota, Gene Michael Collins (Genee) of New Iberia, James Neil Collins (Jeanine) of Lydia, and John Collins (Lisa) of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren, Dr. Jamie Collins (Dr. Elizabeth Collins), Beau Fontenot, Lauren Boring (Joseph), Weeks Miller Collins, Christopher Collins, Claire Cenac (William), Nicole Collins (Mark Gassiot), Elena Quevedo, Victoria Brekke (Tyler), Nicholas Collins (Page), and Caroline Collins; 15 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” William Collins; and her siblings, Jeanne Reagan LaBiche, Effie LaBiche, Maurice LaBiche, Milton LaBiche, Emmitt LaBiche, Dozelilia LaBiche, Numa LaBiche, Jr., Olita DeRouen, Whitney LaBiche, Sr., Rita Mae Broussard, Albert LaBiche, and Franklin LaBiche.
