St. Martinville A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm, on Saturday, July 19, 2014, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Thomas Kenny Bonhomme, 70, who passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2014.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9:00 am until 1:30 pm on Saturday at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville.
Rev. Augustinus Seran, SVD will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Cynthia Hypolite and Mary Darby. Gift Bearers will be Nia Johnson, Jenita Hypolite, Kennedy Walker, and Dion Jenkins. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Mr. Bonhomme was a veteran of the Korean War, honorably serving his country in the United States Army. He was formerly employed by Fruit of the Loom for 13 years and was currently working for the St. Martin Parish Sheriffs Department as a Correctional Officer. Thomas was an avid sports fan who enjoyed football, basketball, tennis, and golf. He loved hanging out with his friends and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Rose Hypolite Bonhomme; his son, Kavin Bonhomme; his daughter, Kimberly Bonhomme Walker and husband, Willie; his grandchild, Kennedy Walker; and his brother, Joseph Washington, Jr.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cesaire Bonhomme, Sr. and Eva Lee Washington; his step father, Joseph Washington, Sr.; five sisters, Mary Lee Briscoe, Yolanda Narcisse, Mozella Jean Batiste, Lucille Fiest, and Mary Louise Davis; and seven brothers, Paul Washington, Sr., Cesaire Bonhomme, Jr., Wilbert Bonhomme, Gilbert Bonhomme, Howard Bonhomme, Sr., Edward Bonhomme, and Wilton Bonhomme.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Walter Pickney, Jr., Robert Batiste, David Willis, Nicholas Hypolite, Jr., Clarence Haynes, and Roy Roberts.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Washington, Jr., Gerald Collins, Tony Lee Briscoe, Lloyd James, Floyd Doucet, Melton James, Kavin Bonhomme, Willie Walker, Ed Menard, Jarvis Francis, Bernell Hypolite, Jordan Hypolite, Joseph Gilliam, Junius Adams, David Welcome, Jr., Denzel Alexander, C.J. Mitchell, and Walter Guillory.
