Tommy J. Breaux, Sr.

New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church for Tommy J. Breaux Sr., native and resident of New Iberia, LA who passed away following an extended battle with cancer on March 8, 2016 at the age of 62. Entombment will follow in the church mausoleum. Rev. Mario Romero will be the Celebrant. Gift Bearers include Demi Richard, Tommy "Tucker" Breaux, III, and Laura Hoffpauir. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 9:00 AM until 12:15 PM. Tommy graduated from Catholic High School of New Iberia and also from the University of Southwestern Louisiana (UL of Lafayette) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked over forty years in electrical construction, serving previously as President of ECDI (Electrical Construction and Design, Inc.) and recently retiring as President of the Industrial Specialty Division of E.P. Breaux Electrical Inc. Tommy served on the City of New Iberia Electrical Board for eleven years from 1988 to 1999. He was a lifelong member of Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church in New Iberia, serving as a member of the choir for thirty years, and as a trustee of the church. He also assisted with the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Life Teen band from 1999 to 2003. Tommys greatest love was for his family. He greatly enjoyed spending time with and cooking for his children and grandchildren. Tommy also had a passion for music that began in his younger years when he discovered his special talent for playing guitar, keyboard, and drums by ear. He was a member of numerous rock bands in his teenage years playing venues from Galveston, TX to Pensacola, FL. His musical expression continued with the church choir at Nativity of Our Lady where he faithfully participated in 10:30 Sunday mass. There, he was also a part of the Adoremus Choir, and recorded an album in 1988. Following his retirement, he enjoyed camping with the Bayou Kruisers RV club where he shared many cherished moments with good friends. Tommy is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 43 years, Patricia (Patty) Fournet; two daughters, Kelli Storey and husband Lance, of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Katie May and husband Brian of Baton Rouge; son Tommy J. Breaux, II, and wife Raven Decoux, of Youngsville and grandchildren Zoe Wilson, Demi Richard, Tommy Tucker J. Breaux III, Tanner J. Breaux, Emily May, and Greyson Storey. He is also survived by his brothers, Ernest P. Topper Breaux Jr. and wife Lillian, and Joseph D. Breaux, and his sisters Kathleen Breaux Byrom and husband John Preston Byrom, and Linda Breaux Veazey. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest P. Breaux, Sr. and Theonie Ozenne Breaux and brother-in-law, Bryan A. Veazey. Pallbearers include Ernest "Paul" Breaux, III, Johnny Byrom, Timothy Breaux, Richard Byrom, David Veazey, and Gregory Robert. Honorary pallbearers include Kenneth Byrom, Michael Roberts, Douglas Conner Fournet, Adam Hoffpauir, and Paul Anthony Breaux.
