Breaux Bridge, LA - Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2009 in Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel for Tony Andrew Monk McDaniel, 47, a native of Guin, Alabama, and a resident of Breaux Bridge, who, as his daughter, Madison said, went to be with Jesus on Tuesday evening, October 20, 2009, at Heart Hospital of Lafayette. Fr. Allen Breaux will officiate at the service. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2.
He is survived by his wife, the former Cheryl Manzella, children Jacob (9) and Madison (7), of Breaux Bridge; his parents, Kenneth and Bobbie McDaniel of Sulligent, Alabama; two brothers, David McDaniel of Columbus, MS, Mark McDaniel and wife, Kathy, of Winnfield, AL; brother-in-law, Michael Manzella and his wife, Leisa, and son Nicholas of Dothan, AL; mother-in-law, Rose Manzella, and her mother, MawMaw Honey, of Metairie; and his four legged companion, Bacchus, a schnauzer he taught to tree squirrels.
Monk's world was simple, always involving his family and working to provide for them. He was a loving and unselfish husband and father who lived life to the fullest. He was a transplanted Cajun who learned to boil crawfish better than an authentic Cajun. He was the only Alabama fan among his group of LSU friends who fondly called him Bama. He loved hunting, fishing, golf, football, cutting his grass, grilling and cooking, listening to his son play guitar, and teaching his children to be sports fans. He worked as a civil inspector, primarily in the concrete industry.
Pallbearers will be Jacob McDaniel, Mark McDaniel, David McDaniel, Shane Miller, Scott Fontenot, Blake Perry, Michael Manzella and Jesse Triche.
Visitation will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Friday until 3:30 p.m. with the rosary at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his family.
Pellerin Funeral Home, 211 Berard St., Breaux Bridge, LA 70517 (337.332.2199), is in charge of arrangements.
