Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Sunday, December 21, 2008, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Torey James Blanchard, 30 who died on Thursday, December 18, 2008.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Father Louis Allen Breaux will conduct the funeral service. Scriptures will be read by Paula Berard and Nina Lopez. Gift bearers will be Brielle Blanchard, Amber Addison, and Hagen Calais.
Torey was a member of the H.B.P.A. Board and was a horse trainer by trade who loved working with his horses at Evangeline Downs. Besides his love for his horses, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed taking leisurely boat rides, reading and spending time with his family and friends. Torey was also known for being able to cook a "great gumbo". He loved his family unconditionally, but his daughter, Brielle, was his love.
Survivors include his wife, Allison L. Blanchard, of Breaux Bridge; his daughter, Brielle Blanchard, of St. Martinville; his mother, Judy C. Blanchard, of Parks; two sisters, Dana Calais and her husband, Chris, of Cecilia, and Susan Addison and her husband, Kenneth Jr., of Breaux Bridge; his paternal grandfather, Abel Blanchard and his wife, Edith, of Parks; a niece, Amber Addison, of Breaux Bridge; three nephews, Ryi Calais, of Cecilia, Jordan Addison, of Breaux Bridge, and Hagen Calais, of Cecilia; and his godchild, Jansen Calais, of Cecilia.
He was preceded in death by a son, Brylin Blanchard; his father, Abel "Jim" Blanchard; paternal grandmother, Edna G. Blanchard; and maternal grandparents, Evans and Duella "Noon" Cormier.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 12:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Saturday and continue at 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
Pallbearers will be T-Mark Thibodeaux, Dwarren Olivier, Teddy Thibodeaux, Frank Verrett, Ryi Calais, and Jordan Addison.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jacques Soileau, Guy Wiltz, Brooke Guidry, Jansen Calais, and Hagen Calais.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
