New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, on Tuesday, December 16, 2008, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia, for Valerie "Betty" Barrilleaux, 83, who passed away on Friday, December 12, 2008 in New Iberia. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Mark Derise will be the Celebrant. Readers will be Holly Hoffpauir and Catherine Mouton. Gift Bearers include Dolores and Eric Romero. Born on March 23, 1925 in Jeanerette, Ms. Betty enjoyed playing Pokeno, shopping, listening to music, gardening, and spending time with her family and her pet dog "Peanut". Survivors include her daughters, Dolores Romero and husband Eric of New Iberia, Susan Clark and husband Neil of Lydia, Linda Richard and husband Vance of Youngsville; son, Kirby Bonin and wife Diane of Alexandria; special friend, Norbert Broussard, Sr. of New Iberia; 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alcie and Mathilde Freyou Simoneaux; her husbands, Elton Bonin and Wilbur Barrilleaux; brother, Vital Simoneaux; sisters, Martha Hebert, Angelle Davis, Leve Pare', Viola Bolner, Blanche Firmin Clark; and a great great grandson, Omi Luke Viator. Pallbearers will be Dane Wilson, Brandon Bonin, Braidon Bonin, Todd Dupuis, Reed Romero, and Kyle Hoffpauir. Honorary Pallbearers include Eric Romero, Sr., Neil Clark, Vance Richard, and Raymond Massie. A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 2:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Monday.
