Velma Sis Olivier

Arnaudville A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm, on Friday, October 9, 2015, at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville, for Velma "Sis" Olivier, 82, who passed away on Monday, October 5, 2015, at J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 9:30 am until 10:00 pm on Thursday, and continue on Friday at 7:00 am until 12:30 pm. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Thursday by Bea Zeringue. Rev. Keenan Brown will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial. Gift Bearers will be Grace Marks, Doris Richard, Lena Olivier, and Earline Olivier. Readers will be Marla Olivier and Rachel Kester. Interment will follow at St. John Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville. Velma was a perfectionist, with a unique character, a strong believer in the power of prayer and a devout Catholic. She was gentle, calm and warm hearted, clothed in strength and dignity. Sis was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She unselfishly put the needs of others before her own. Velma enjoyed growing flowers in her garden, crocheting, playing bingo, and search word puzzles. She was just a one-of-kind caregiver to her family. She made the best lemon squares, loved sweets-thats why she was the sweetest person. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her sons, Randal J. (Marla L.) Olivier and Wesley S. Olivier; her daughter, Angela M. Olivier; her grandchildren, Jeremy W. (Amanda) Olivier, Adam M. (Vicki) Olivier, Steve B. (Tiffany M.) Olivier, and Jenni L. Hidalgo (Joseph Robert); her great-grandchildren, Gabriel S. Olivier, Lane P. Olivier, Aubrey Hidalgo, Kassie Dubois, Braelynn Olivier, and Abel Olivier; her brothers, Earl (Lena) Stelly, Willie J. (Viola) Stelly, and John Calvin (Cathy) Stelly; her sisters, Grace Marks and Doris Richard; and her godchildren, Timothy Stelly, David Stelly, Terry Miller, and Phillip Courville, Jr. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Olivier; her father, Louis Stelly, Sr.; her mother, Alma Miller Stelly; her brothers, Louis Stelly, Jr., Lee A. Stelly, and Joseph Stelly. Pallbearers will be Randal J. Olivier, Wesley S. Olivier, Angela M. Olivier, Jeremy W. Olivier, Adam M. Olivier, and Steve B. Olivier. Honorary pallbearers will be Timothy Stelly, Tyler Kidder, Lance Pitre, Jenni Hidalgo, and David Stelly.
