Velma Prosper

St. Martinville - A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Velma Berthelot Prosper, 80, who passed away at Our Lady of Lourdes.

Father Bill Melancon will officiate at the funeral service. Reader will be Caryn Hymel.

Entombment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery in Catahoula, LA.

Velma Prosper was born August 13, 1942, in St. Martinville, LA. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino, shopping and talking. Velma loved her grandchildren unconditionally and there was nothing in this world that she wouldn't do for them.

 She will be remembered for her sense of humor and the great stories that she would share to get a good laugh.

She is survived by son Craig (Michelle Guidry) Latiolais; brother Vernon (Inez) Berthelot; sister Vivian (Ashley) Melancon; grandchildren, Amber Latiolais, Danielle (Austin) Gaspard and Brook Latiolais.

She is preceded in death by parents, Camille and Agnes Berthelot; 1st husband, Alden Latiolais; 2nd husband, Ben Prosper; nephew, Randy Melancon and her companion of 20 years, Frank Alfano.
