Velma Romero

New Iberia - A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, on Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at Pellerin Funeral Home of New Iberia in New Iberia, for Velma Romero , 84, who passed away on Friday, August 28, 2015, in New Iberia. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 4:30 pm until 9:00 pm on Monday, and continue on Tuesday at 8:00 am until 11:00 am. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Monday. Fr. Garrett Savoie will officiate at the Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery in Coteau. Velma Romero was born and raised in Abbeville, LA. She was the proud wife of Paul "Blanc " Romero, who loyally served Acadian Pontiac and Musson Patout as a salesman. Granny, as everyone called her, was a very special woman. She loved to cook for her family for family dinners every Sunday. She opened her arms and home to all that needed a place to be safe and feel loved. She was a hardworking woman who always put her family's needs before her own. She enjoyed selling Watkins products for over fifteen years. She was the proud Granny of four children, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. She is survived by her sons, Todd Romero and wife JoAnn of Jeanerette, LA and Mitch Romero and wife Babette; daughter, Libby Bienvenu and husband Leonard "Squeaky"; grandchildren, Nick Bienvenu and spouse Carman, Geddy Bienvenu and spouse Angele, Alix Bienvenu and fiance' Steven Guidry, Jennifer Romero, Karli LeBouef and spouse Josh, Ryan Romero and spouse Shandi; great-grandchildren, Lance LeBouef and fiancee' Jessie Wells, Drake Broussard, Ethan Bienvenu, Macailah Bienvenu, Luke LeBouef, Zhane Bienvenu, Kip LeBouef, Geddy J. Bienvenu, Mary Bienvenu, Layla LeBouef; great-great-grandchild, Kameron LeBouef; brother, Leo Bergeron and wife Goldie. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Romero; son, Blaine Romero; father, Irvan Bergeron; mother, Abbie Bergeron;stepbrother, Cecile Vincent; step sister-in-law, Diane Vincent; step sister, Rena Mae Landry, step brother-in-law, Jay Landry. Pallbearers will be Mitch Romero, Todd Romero, Leonard Bienvenu, Nick Bienvenu, Geddy Bienvenu, Ryan Romero, and LeRoy Trahan. Honorary pallbearers will be Lance LeBouef and Josh LeBouef.
