Parks - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at St. Louis Chapel in Parks, for Vera Phillips Dauphine, 94, who passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at Kindred Hospital of Lafayette. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at St. Louis Chapel in Parks, from 7:00 am until 9:45 am on Saturday. A rosary will be recited at 8:30 am on Saturday. Rev. Brad Guillory will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Cindy Gallien and Gift Bearers will be Viola Phillips, Betty Fontenette, and Monique Dauphine. Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge. Mrs. Dauphine was a wonderful cook and loved cooking for everyone and baking pies for holidays and other special occasions. She also enjoyed going to trail rides, and listening and dancing to the music of her favorite Zydeco artist, Clifton Chenier, and she especially loved going on joyful rides to visit her family and friends. Vera loved reminiscing about the good old days - the days when she ran 'Dauphines Nite Club' back when it was called, 'Tuxedo Night Club' - those were memories that she held near and dear to her heart. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her son, Joseph (Edna) Dauphine of Parks; 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Marshall and Victoria Mallery Phillips; her beloved husband, Rene Dauphine, Jr.; five sisters, Lillian Charles, Matilda Valsin, Helen Patt, Lou Ann Gregoria, and Lydia Abraham; and three brothers, Walter Phillips, Joseph Phillips, and Mark Phillips. Pallbearers will be James L. Phillips, Leroy Phillips, Danny Gordon, Lennis Phillips Jr., Macarrick Benjamin, and Curtis Joseph. Honorary pallbearers will be Lennis Phillips, Sr., Paul Phillips, Kenneth Joseph, Lucien Joseph, Curtis Joseph, Ted Dauphine, Victor Dardar, Casey Dardar, Jacoby Louis, and Arthur Gregoria, Jr. Pellerin Funeral Home, (337.332.2111), is in charge of arrangements.
