Verla D. Peltier Tracy

New Iberia - A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date for Verla Derouen Peltier Tracy, 91, who passed away on Monday, September 11, 2017 at Landmark of Acadiana Nursing Home in St. Martinville. A lifelong area resident, Verla Mae Derouen Peltier Tracy was born on July 14, 1926 to the late Louise Badeaux and Simillian Bade Derouen. She graduated from New Iberia High School, and attended Spencer's Business College in Lafayette. Verla worked at Sear's in New Iberia, New Iberia National Bank, Regions Bank, and Baron's Health Club. She loved cooking for family and friends, and taking care of others as long as she could. She had a gift from God that was very special, which was praying for others. Verla was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed by all whose lives she touched. Mrs. Tracy is survived by a daughter, Gail Peltier Young and husband, Charles of New Iberia; granddaughter, Mary Young Beebe and husband Jerek of New Iberia; stepdaughter, Marian Tracy Migues and husband Charles of New Iberia; step-grandson, Dakota Migues of New Iberia; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry Joseph Peltier; second husband, Terrance M. Tracy; and three sisters, Lillian Derouen Doucet, Mary Derouen Meyers, and Martha D. Derouen. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Landmark of Acadiana Nursing Home for taking such good care of Verla while she was a resident there; and to the entire staff of Bridgeway Healthcare and Hospice for such excellent care.
