Verna "'Miss Mamie'" Mae Champagne

Verna Mae "Miss Mamie" LeBlanc Champagne Breaux Bridge - Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 am, on Thursday, September 10, 2015, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge, for Verna Mae "Miss Mamie" LeBlanc Champagne, 71, who passed away on Monday, September 7, 2015, at her residence. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge from 4:30 pm until 9:00 pm on Wednesday, and continue on Thursday at 7:00 am until time of service. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Wednesday. Pastor Damon Baudoin will officiate at the Memorial Service. Verna enjoyed going to the movies, working in her flower bed, watching the Saints, playing pokeno with her friends, traveling and reading. She was owner and operator of Marie's Nursery for 40 years where she nurtured and cared for hundreds of children who came to know and love her as "Miss Mamie." Almost every afternoon you could catch her drinking coffee with the love of her life "Beb" (Leonard), and her best friend, Aunt Dot. Her greatest pleasure was attending her grandchildren's sporting events and cheering above the crowd; and there she was "Granny" to all. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Leonard "Tin" Champagne of St. Martinville; her son, Thomas "Tommy" Champagne and wife Michelle of Breaux Bridge; her daughters, Nanette Burch and husband Kevin of Parks and Carmen Castille and husband Danny of Parks; her brother, Nathan LeBlanc of St. Martinville; her sister, JoAnn Escoyne of St. Martinville; her grandchildren, Blair B. Delahoussaye, Brittni Castille, Brady Burch, Alec Champagne, and Noelie Castille; and her great-granddaughters, Annie Castille and Jolie Mae Delahoussaye. She is preceded in death by her father, Ange LeBlanc, and her mother, Marie Girouard LeBlanc.
