Leonville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Leonville, for Verna Mae Taylor Guidroz, 82, who passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2014, in Gonzales.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9:00 am until 10:45 am on Tuesday, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, in Leonville.
Fr. Kenneth Domingue will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Jessica Aymond and Heather Pitarro. Gift Bearers will be Laci, Lisa, and Aubree Guidroz. Singer will be Jennifer Cook. Interment will follow at St. Leo the Great Cemetery in Leonville.
Verna Mae was a member of the St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church Ladies Altar Society. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, raising rabbits, and watching wrestling on TV. Verna Mae loved her grandchildren dearly and enjoyed every moment spent with them.
She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Martin and husband, Howard, of Gonzales; six sons, Dutile D.J. Guidroz and wife, Peggy, of Walker, Leonard J. Guidroz and wife, Wanda, of Gonzales, Terry Guidroz of Arnaudville, Daniel Guidroz and wife, April, of Port Barre, David Guidroz and wife, Lisa, of Gonzales, and Patrick Guidroz of Arnaudville; two sisters, Rose Duplechien and Jeanette LaGrange, both of Baytown, TX; 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Guidroz; her parents, Adelma and Octavia Dugas Taylor; her son, Gerald Guidroz; a grandson, Daniel Guidroz, Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Melanie Guidroz; a grandson-in-law, Matthew Soileau; two brothers, Dutile and Alton Taylor; and five sisters, Vilma Guidroz, Wilma Calais, Anna Mae Stelly, Zula Stelly, and Merley Knott.
Pallbearers will be Braddy Guidroz, Dutile Guidroz, Michael Dale Calais, Kyte Aymond, Victor Cowart, and C. J. Guidroz.
Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Kane, Cole, Eric, Scott, Brock, Ben, Mark, Randy, Howard, and Brian.
