Verna Guidry Landry

Lafayette - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 pm on Friday, April 22, 2022, at The Cathedral St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette for Verna Guidry Landry, 90, who passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022, in Denham Springs.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge from 3:30 pm until 9:00 pm on Thursday and continue on Friday at 8:00 am until 1:00 pm.

A rosary will be prayed by Deacon Marcel “Butch” Hebert at 7:00 pm on Thursday.

Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery in Lafayette.

For many years Verna worked as an in-home sitter for children – she loved children. She looked forward to having Sunday dinners with her children and spending time with them.  As a pastime, she enjoyed watching soap operas, crocheting, playing Bingo, going to the casino, and fishing.

She is survived by sons, Michael Landry (Melinda), Samuel Landry (Francois), Jacques Landry (Barbara), Rickey Landry, and Louis Landry; daughters, Denise Dauphin (Scott) and Debbie Babin (Jeffery); grandchildren, Brandon McGough, James Landry, Monique Landry, Scott "Charlie" Dauphin, Jr. (Lori), Ashley Dauphin, Jeff Babin, Jr. (Lisa), Jason Babin (Sarah), Krystal Landry, Kerri Babin, Joshua Babin (Lacie), Jana Thomas (Frank), Colby Landry (Autumn), Zachary Landry and Isaac Landry; granddaughter-in-law, Jamie Landry; 18 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband, Joseph Roy Landry; grandchildren, Monica Landry and Rickey Landry, II; father, Dulcide "Beno" J. Guidry; mother, Dixie Guidry Boney; sister, Flora Guidry; and her brother, Meryle Guidry.

Pallbearers will be Samuel Landry, Jacques Landry, Colby Landry, Louis Landry, James Landry, and Scott "Charlie" Dauphin, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Rickey Landry, Michael Landry, Jeffery Babin, and Scott Dauphin.
