St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, July 7, 2007, at Notre Dame Catholic Church, in St. Martinville for Verna James Louis, 78, who died on Sunday, July 1, 2007 at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Fr. Thomas Mullaly, pastor of Notre Dame Catholic Church, will conduct the services. Readers will be Anika Porter and Andramica Etienne.
She is survived by three sons, Joseph Louis, Sr. and his wife, Frances of Baton Rouge, Felton Louis, Sr. and his wife, Marie, of Baker, and Lovern Louis of Maryland; four sisters, Edna Orphe, Mecora Fontenette, Gloria Johnson, and Gloria Mae Dalcourt, all of St. Martinville; seven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Morris James, Sr. and Lena Simon James; her husband, Isadore Louis, Jr.; one brother, Morris James, Jr.; one sister, Rose James; one granddaughter, Darlene Louis; and one grandson, Lovern Louis, Jr.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday, July 6, 2007 and continue at 7 a.m. on Saturday until time of service.
A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
