Vernella "Aunt Vern" Michael

St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Notre Dame Catholic Church for Vernella "Aunt Vern" Michael, 85, who passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center.

A visitation will take place at the Notre Dame Catholic Church on Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 7:00 am until 11:00 am.

A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 am.

Interment will follow at House of Love Cemetery in St. Martinville.

Vernella, also known as "Aunt Vern" and "Lollie" to many, was a devout Catholic and parishioner of Notre Dame Catholic Church. She called the prayer line everyday and prayed for anyone she could. Vernella was always known for being positive and was always willing to help, give advice and make you laugh. She enjoyed cooking, reading and shopping. Vernella was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son, Brandon Michael; daughter, Maxine Michael (Dwayne); brothers, Roy Roberts, Sr., Harry Joseph Roberts, Sr. and Collin Roberts (Grace); sisters, Elsie Gedward and Mary Louise Ambroise (Marvin); in-law, Johnnie Mae; and grandchildren, Symone Michael (Zalik), Tatyana Michael, Alajia Michael, Jaylan Michael, Dwayne Anthony, Jr., Malaysia Anthony, Za'kaylen Anthony and Rhianna Narcisse.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Celina Michael; parents, Samuel Roberts, Sr. and Celine Wiltz Roberts; brother, Samuel Roberts, Jr.; and sister, Anna Belle Guidry.

Pallbearers will be Dexter Ambroise, Roy Roberts, Jr., Collin Roberts, Jr., Graylin Guidry, Dwayne Anthony, Sr. and Rodney Roberts.

Honorary pallbearers will be Collin Roberts, Harry Roberts, Sr., Marvin Ambroise, Sr., Roy Roberts, Sr. and Arthur Gedward, Jr.
