New Iberia - Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, on Friday, August 5, 2016, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Vernice Marie Migues Delahoussaye, 79, who passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2016.
A gathering of family and friends will be at the funeral home on Thursday, from noon until 9:00 PM, and continue on Friday at 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM.
A rosary, led by the Men's Singing Rosary Group, will be prayed at 7:00 PM on Thursday.
Rev. Mario Romero will be the Celebrant.
Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery in New Iberia.
Vernice was born in Delcambre, LA on January 13, 1937, to Aldes Sr. and Anna Mae Morvant Migues. She was a longtime resident of New Iberia, and worked for Howard Brothers for over 25 years. Vernice loved sewing, crocheting, cooking, fishing, playing Pokeno, and looking for four-leaf clovers with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time with her family at the camp that she and Vernick once owned. She loved life, and had a genuine heart, a glowing smile, and the most contagious laugh! She was very selfless, and will be dearly missed.
Vernice is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Vernick Delahoussaye; two daughters, Gail Delahoussaye and Darlene Delahoussaye; three sons, Kenneth Delahoussaye, Kurt Delahoussaye, and Keith Delahoussaye and wife Jeanne, all of New Iberia; seven sisters, Madeline Monceaux of Youngsville, Brenda Romero and companion Milton of Abbeville, Wanita Ransonet and husband Clifford of New Iberia, Dolores "Peanut" Thibodeaux and husband Kenneth of New Iberia, Judy Migues of St. Martinville, Charlene Prejean and husband Jason of Winnie, TX, and Cheryl Migues and companion, Wayne Romero of Youngsville; two brothers, Eugene Migues and wife Dot, and Aldes Migues, Jr. and wife Debbie, all of New Iberia; seven grandchildren, Genee' Romero and husband Rene, Monique Derouen and husband Nicholis, Britni LeBlanc and husband Shane, Jake Delahoussaye, Jared Delahoussaye, Tori Delahoussaye, and Jobe Delahoussaye; five great-grandchildren, Baylee Romero, Aubree Derouen, and Bianca, Emery, and Logan LeBlanc; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by father, Aldes Migues, Sr., mother, Anna Mae Migues, two brothers, Minos and Edmond Migues, four sisters-in-law, Connie and Dot Migues, Wyva Delahoussaye, and Janice Touchet; mother-in-law, Olite Gary Touchet, and father-in-law, Arthur Touchet, Sr.
Pallbearers are Kurt Delahoussaye, Keith Delahoussaye, J.C. Boy Delahoussaye, Jake Delahoussaye, Nicholis Derouen, and Rene Romero.
Honorary pallbearers are Wade and Jared Delahoussaye, and Shane LeBlanc.
