Broussard - Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Broussard, for Veronia Jean Batiste, 47, who passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Iberia Medical Center in New Iberia. Interment will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery in Cade. Veronica was employed by the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Department as a Probation Officer. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta, St. Anthony Church Choir, and the Ladies Auxiliary at Our Lady of the Rosary - Court 115, in Broussard. Survivors include her father, Harold Jean Batiste, Sr., of Cade; two brothers, Garland Anthony Jean Batiste and Harold Jean Batiste, Jr. (Carla), all of Cade; four aunts, Ardie Johnson, of Lafayette, Marie Mouton, of Parks, Daffony Anderson, of Cade, and Patricia Richard, of Lafayette; and four uncles, Harris Mouton, of NY, Joseph Lester Mouton, of Columbia, SC, Dennis Benoit, of Cade, and LeRoy Thomas, of Lafayette. She was preceded in death by her mother, Georgia Mae Mouton Jean Batiste; and her maternal and paternal grandparents. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Tuesday. A rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
