Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Friday, April 12, 2019, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Veronica Champagne, 54, who passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2019, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Thursday and continue on Friday at 7:00 am until 10:00 am.
A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm on Thursday.
Deacon James will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Veronica was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi, where she attended her weekly Masses and loved receiving the word of God. She enjoyed listening to music, dancing, singing, traveling, and socializing with her friends. She was also very meticulous about her herself and her home. Veronica loved having her hair done and getting all dressed up for special occasions, where she could express the adventurous and witty side of her wonderful personality.
Veronica will be fondly remembered for the unconditional love and affection she had for her children and for the loving and forgiving heart she possessed.
She is survived by her loving sons, Patrick Champagne and wife Rena of St. Martinville, Emery Champagne of Des Moines, Iowa, Christopher Barber of Breaux Bridge and Isaiah Champagne of Breaux Bridge; daughters, Aileen Champagne and wife Melissa of San Antonio, TX, Crystal Christophe and husband Wayne of Marrero, Christy Barber of Abbeville and Alexis Champagne of Breaux Bridge; mother, Enola Champagne of Breaux Bridge; brothers, Joseph "Ronald" Champagne of Opelousas and Ramsey Champagne of Breaux Bridge; sisters, Monica Champagne of Breaux Bridge and Pauline Castille and husband Frederick of Breaux Bridge; granddaughters, Solange Champagne, Heavenly August; grandsons, Donovan Champagne and Damien Champagne; and her companion, Mr. Joseph "Perly" Noel of Cecilia.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Whitney Champagne; granddaughter, Madison Champagne; grandmother, Mazie Singleton; grandfather, Alphonse Singleton; grandmother; Bernadette Champagne; grandfather, Clarence Champagne; and her sister-in-law, Lucille Lastrapes.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Champagne, Christopher Barber, Joseph “Ronald” Champagne, Wayne Christophe, Frederick Castille, Sr., and Timothy Castille.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Emery Champagne, Isaiah Champagne, Donovan Champagne, Damien Champagne, and Ramsey Champagne.
