Loreauville - Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., on Thursday, August 14, 2008, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Loreauville, for Vincent Joseph "Sonny" Savoy, Jr., 66, who passed away on Monday, August 11, 2008 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Loreauville. Reverend Fr. Louis Allen Breaux will officiate at the funeral Mass. Concelebrant will be Reverend Fr. Charles Mallet. Mr. Savoy served in the United States Army National Guard for a number of years and was a member of the American Legion Post in Breaux Bridge and the Woodmen of the World. He was retired with Chevron after more than 15 years of service and later went to work for Moss Motors for 6 years. He was an avid collector of cars and recipe books, as well as being a "paper & stuff" collector. Mr. and Mrs. Savoy celebrated 18 beautiful years of marriage on May 31st. Survivors include his loving wife, Anita Landry Savoy, of Breaux Bridge; one son, Travis Savoy and his wife, Tina, of Loreauville; two step sons, Johnnie Ebner and his wife, Delania, of Lafayette, and Brian Ebner and his wife, Denise, of Parks; three step daughters, Deborah Hebert and her husband, Derrick, of Breaux Bridge, Vicki Abshire and her husband, Ron, of Broussard, and Gwen Boutte and her husband, Chip, of Humble, TX; one brother, Louis Savoy and his wife, Betty, of St. Martinville; one sister, Lorraine Cormier and her husband, Simon, of Breaux Bridge; his brother in law, Ralph Broussard, of New Iberia; 3 grandchildren, Kandis Savoy, Ravis Savoy, and Trinity Savoy; 12 step grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Marie Barras Savoy; and a sister, Margaret Broussard. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Wednesday; continue on Thursday at 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. Visitation will resume at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Loreauville from 11 a.m. on Thursday until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Pallbearers will be Kirk Savoy, Darrel Savoy, his godchild, Brian Broussard, Brian Ebner, Bracey Thibodeaux, and Sean Oubre. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Broussard, Darrel Stoute, and Sid Hardy. Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
