Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, July 4, 2009, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Viola Celestine Demouchet, 83, who passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at her residence in Breaux Bridge.
Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Mausoleum No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Viola enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, carpentry and dancing to Zydeco music. She was known to be the winner of several Zydeco dancing contests. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her daughters, Roberta Lewis, of Breaux Bridge, Mary Irvin (Algy), of Thibodaux and Linda Shanklin (Lloyd, Sr.), of Breaux Bridge; her sister, Agnes Randolph, of New Orleans; her grandchildren, Darlene Lewis, Angela Irvin Dupard, Anita Rucker (Donald), Algy Jr. (Kermie), Anissa Vine (Dane), Antoine Sr. (Tresa), Lloyd Shanklin, Jr. (Warrell), and Leonard W. Shanklin; 10 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-great-grandchildren. She was also survived by a close sister, Theresa Davis; and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Demouchet; and her parents, Leonard and Clementine Alexander Celestine.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 4, 2009.
Honored to serve as her Pallbearers are, Antoine Irvin, Algy Irvin, Lloyd Shanklin, Jr., Leonard Shanklin, Norris Celestine, Kenneth Thibodeaux, and David Thomas.
