Jeanerette - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 28, 2008, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Jeanerette, for Viola Guillotte Gary, 82, who passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2008 in New Iberia.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Rev. Jody Simoneaux will be the Celebrant, and the readings will be proclaimed by Lisa Simpson and Joann Rogers.
Born on January 16, 1926 in Jeanerette, Ms. Gary enjoyed playing cards and listening to French music.
Survivors include her sons, Eugene Hebert and wife Verda of Charenton; Harrison Hebert and wife Charlotte of New Iberia; daughter, Carolyn Maturin and husband James of Charenton, Pamela Rogers and husband William of New Iberia; 17 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren, and one due to arrive in December.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Alicia Schwab Guillotte; granddaughter, Lisa Maturin; brothers, Wilson, Whitney, Russell, Wilfred; sisters, Odelia, Yolande, and Elvia.
A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Monday. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
Pallbearers include Harrison Hebert, William Rogers, Jamie Maturin, Chad Hebert, and Joshua Luke.
