Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am on Saturday, January 11, 2020, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Viola Jolivet Gordon, 88, who passed away on Monday, January 6, 2020, at The Carpenter House – St. Joseph Hospice in Lafayette.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday.
A rosary will be prayed at 9:30 am on Saturday.
Fr. Bill Melancon will officiate at the Funeral Mass. The reader will be Cindy Gordon. Gift Bearers will be Fallon St. Julien and André St. Julien.
Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge.
Viola loved cooking, baking, visiting and caring for the sick, and listening to some good ol’ Zydeco music. Her family meant everything to her, and she made sure they were taught the value of life and respect for others.
She is survived by her loving sons, Joseph Gordon and wife Melanie of Scott and Larry Gordon of Houston, TX; daughters, Julia Lemelle and husband Larry of Leonville, Barbara Lemelle and husband Ricky of Leonville, Betty St. Julian and husband Michael of Lafayette, and Mary Lewis and husband Lenden of Lafayette; brothers, Carlton Jolivet of Houston, TX, Eugene Jolivet and wife Rose Mae of Houston, TX, Andrew Jolivet and wife Thelma of Houston, TX, and Harold Jolivet of Breaux Bridge; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Amilcar and Georgiana Broussard Jolivet; husband; Walton Gordon; daughter, Norma Eglin; grandson, Jarrick Gordon; brothers, Felton, Ernest, Landry, and Aaron Jolivet; and her sister, Hilda Cyprien.
Pallbearers will be Lanford Lemelle, Domonic Lemelle, Tyrell St. Julian, Cory Gordon, Lawrence Lemelle, and Cedrick St. Julian.
