Viola Joiner Porter

Loreauville - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2007, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church ?in Loreauville for Viola Joiner Porter, 90, who died Sunday, April 29, 2007 at Dauterive Hospital in New Iberia. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Cemetery No. 2, in Loreauville. Rev. Francis Davis will conduct the funeral service. Viola enjoyed traveling and reading the daily newspaper. Her greatest love was spending time with her family. Survivors include two sons, Alley J. Porter and his wife, Enola, and Roland J. Porter, Sr. and his wife, Rita, all of St. Martinville; four daughters, Eula Mae P. Darby, Weola P. Landry, both of Youngsville, Willie Mae P. Calais and her husband, Delanie, Jr., of Breaux Bridge, and Adeline P. Etienne, of St. Martinville; 21 grandchildren; and 45 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie ""Bill"" Porter; her daughter, Wonna Mae Porter; her parents, ?Annie Mitchell and Aristole Joiner; her brothers, Winslow Joiner and Paul Peter; her sister, Violet Williams; and her sons-in-law, Horace Darby, Sr. and Joseph Rex Landry, Sr. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Friday and continue at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday until time of service. Pallbearers will be Horace Darby, Jr., Joseph Rex Landry, Jr., Roland Porter, Jr., Gregory Corsey, Michael Darby, Delanie Calais, Jr., and Wayne Notto. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
