Violeta Romero

New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Thursday, April 4, 2013 at St. Peter Catholic Church in New Iberia for Violeta B. Romero, 88, who died Sunday, March 31, 2013, in New Iberia. Entombment will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery. Rev. David H. Romero, S.J. will be the Celebrant. A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday from 5:30 PM until 8:30 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Wednesday. Visitation will continue Thursday from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM. Mrs. Romero was born on May 8, 1924 in New Orleans, and was a graduate of Loyola University. She taught catechism, and also volunteered at the Shadows of the Teche, and the Bayou Teche Museum. She is survived by her sons, Luis B. Romero and wife Rachel of Coteau, Rev. David H. Romero, S.J. of Brazil, Robert J. Romero, Jr. and wife Elaine of Baton Rouge, Richard A. Romero and wife Katherine of New Iberia; daughter, Maria Ecuyer and husband Edward 'Ted' of Luling; brothers, Louis Bravo of Covington, Eddie Bravo of New Orleans, Richard Bravo of New Orleans; nine grandchildren, Barton Romero and wife Kelly Patout Romero, Rebecca Romero, Robert J. Romero, III, Hannah E. Romero, Jesse J. Romero, Chelsea L. Romero, Mollie K. Romero Humes and husband John, Aimee L. Ecuyer, Richard P. Ecuyer; and two great grandchildren, Jack and Audrey Romero. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert 'Bobby' Romero; parents, Luis and Dolores Pereira Bravo; sister, Patricia Hernandez; and a brother, Jorge Bravo. Pallbearers include Barton Romero, Robert J. Romero, III, Jesse J. Romero, Richard P. Ecuyer, Jorge Bravo, Jr., and Clinton Bravo. Honorary pallbearer is Ted Ecuyer.
