New Iberia - Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:30 PM, Thursday, March 26, 2015, at St. Peter Catholic Church in New Iberia, for Virginia Richard Simon, 93, who passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, in New Iberia. A gathering of family and friends will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church from 1:30 PM until 3:30 PM Thursday. Rev. William Blanda will be the Celebrant. Entombment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery in New Iberia. Mrs. Simon was born on May 13, 1921 to Junius and Hilda Chaisson Richard in Patterson, and had worked for many years as a Registered Nurse. A devout Catholic, she was an avid tennis player, and also enjoyed traveling. She is survived by her children, Ray Simon and wife Pat Burleigh Simon of Lafayette, Bill Simon and wife Sheila Breaux Simon of New Iberia, and Anne Simon Cook and husband George Cook of New Iberia: grandchildren, Leah Simon, Lindsey Simon, Lacey Simon, Cody Simon, and Bobby Cook; great grandchildren, Hayden Cormier, Callie Cormier, Riley Mott, and Sullivan Cook In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bobby" F. Simon; brother, Msgr. Wayne Richard; sister, Anna Canal; and grandchildren, Carole Cook, and Shelly Simon. Pallbearers will be Bill Simon, Ray Simon, Bobby Cook, Richard Carver, Cody Simon, and George Cook. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic High School, 1301 DeLaSalle Drive, New Iberia, LA 70560 Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, New Iberia, LA 70560, 337.365.3331, is in charge of the arrangements.
